Salary: Real Living Wage – £12.60 per hour

Hours
25 hours per week. Flamingo Beach at Silverburn is open 7 days a week. Our Summer Interns will work 09:30 to 17:30 daily, with a 1 hour lunch break.

Contract: 10 week temporary contract from Wednesday 18 June – Sunday 24 August 2025.

Holidays: 3 days will be accrued

Location – Silverburn Shopping Centre, our Head Office in Paisley, and the Royal Hospital for Children.

Job Purpose

Our Summer Intern will be responsible for the overall running of our summer activation, Flamingo Beach, an indoor beach located in Silverburn Shopping Centre. All proceeds from beach entry fees and merchandise sales at the Flamingo Beach Shop will support the work of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. As our Summer Intern you will welcome visitors to the beach and ensure everyone has a fun and safe visit. Providing exceptional customer service is our main priority and you should be comfortable in a public facing role. Volunteers are an integral part of running the beach on a daily basis and as the Summer Intern you will be responsible for welcoming volunteers, conducting volunteer briefings and ensuring they have an enjoyable volunteering experience with the charity. Flamingo Beach is a Silverburn Shopping Centre initiative delivered in partnership with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Flamingo Beach will open to visitors on Friday 20th June and will be open every day,10am to 5pm, until Sunday 24th August.

Key Responsibilities 

• Ensure Flamingo Beach and Flamingo Beach Shop are open and ready for trading at 10.00am each day
• Ensure the beach and shop are clean and tidy, and to complete clear up duties as required.
• Welcome volunteers and conduct volunteer briefings
• Welcome visitors and engage with families who are enjoying the beach
• Process entry fees and complete log sheet capturing the number of visitors to the beach each day
• Monitor behaviour in the beach and escalate any health & safety concerns to Silverburn security
• Maintain stock levels and displays to maximise the customer experience and promote sales in Flamingo Beach Shop
• Complete cashing up process at the end of each day
• Adhere to the policies and processes of both Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Silverburn
