Spring wardrobe refresh

Those long dark months are now over (well, they’re meant to be…) and we are all ready to ditch the big coats and jumpers.  It’s time for a Spring Refresh!

I for one am excited to step into a new season and introduce some newness into my wardrobe!

Here are some of my favourite items I found on my latest trip to Silverburn.  I was looking for some exciting trend-led styles as well as versatile pieces that will work hard in my wardrobe.

It’s also that time of year when special invites start to arrive.  I always love planning a dressy outfit whether buying a whole new look or adding in accessories to update an outfit I  already own.

Whether you are looking to fully change-up your wardrobe or simply enhance existing pieces, Silverburn has so many great options all in one place.

Here are my top finds…

1.Casual Pieces to enhance your existing Wardrobe.

I started off with a visit to one of my favourite stores for easy-to-wear casual pieces, White Stuff.  This bright fun store is full of gorgeous new season bold patterns and colour.  I love the Eden Denim Jacket which I already have in denim blue, but this natural colour will freshen up dresses and jeans for Spring, or layer under a trench coat to add interest and warmth until Summer arrives.  Head in store for great summer dresses, cotton shorts and chinos.

2.One easy key season trend

Waistcoats are here to stay and if you’re investing in this trend why not try a long line style like this Next piece.  They are a little more versatile than a short style.

This cordset looks gorgeous together but can be worn as separates.

Wear with jeans and sandals for a boho look or dress it up with heels and a black blazer.

3.Brown earthy tones are big this season and look lovely with a tan.

Next has a range of waistcoats in store and they are so easy to style with pieces you will already own like jeans, a midi skirt or wear open over a linen dress.  It will work hard in your wardrobe and into next season.

4.Beautiful New Season Classics

The minute you walk into The White Company in Silverburn you feel a sense of calm.  It is such a beautifully curated store.  If you prefer more neutral colours, they have some soft linens and classics that will easily fit into your wardrobe.  I am always looking for the perfect white linen trousers and these ones are perfect for pairing with a blazer or denim jacket.

As with the whole range of womenswear in The White Company, they are a relaxed comfortable fit.

I also spotted this pleated skirt.  Midi skirts are back and I have been wearing them a lot.  This one looks good with trainers and a casual jacket but will be lovely dressed up with heels and a blazer.  White will go with everything and freshen up other items you own.

5.Planning for something special

Whenever someone asks me what to buy for a special occasion, I always try to suggest buying something you will get wear out of again.  And don’t save anything for best!

I headed into Hobbs to see their range of quality, smart tailoring.

This soft blue linen suit looks super fresh for going into Spring Summer and I know I’d wear it year after year.

I would dress this up with heels and a standout bag but could equally pair it with trainers and a t- shirt.  Of course these will work well as separates too.  Wear the blazer over summer dresses or pair with jeans or shorts.  Linen really adds texture and interest to a plain outfit base.

6.Spring Dresses

I am pleased to see more midi dresses in stores again.  They were a huge trend a few years ago and are so easy to throw on and style quickly.

I usually pair mine with a denim jacket or blazer.   Marks & Spencer have such a big selection of midi dresses this season.  These electric blues stood out to me.  Don’t underestimate the feel-good feeling from adding bolder colours or pattern to your wardrobe.

What I enjoy most about shopping at Silverburn is that all these key season looks are under one roof.  And it’s so easy to find the perfect accessory to complement your purchase.

Zara, H&M, Accessorize, TK Maxx and River Island are all great for jewellery and bags.

Whilst Office and Kurt Geiger are great shops to pop into for a wide selection of trainers and heels.  If you’re looking for a designer treat, Flannels have a stunning selection of special accessories and shoes.

Most importantly, if you’re introducing new pieces into your wardrobe, be sure to feel comfortable and confident in them.  Trends are exciting but make sure pieces excite you and that you will wear them on repeat.
